Home Building Solutions is a full-service residential design-build and remodeling firm proudly serving Novi and Southeast Michigan since 2003. We specialize in residential design, construction, remodeling, renovation, and restoration—providing our clients with a seamless, professionally managed experience from the initial concept and design through construction and final completion.

Our experienced team approaches every project with a commitment to understanding each client’s vision, lifestyle, needs, and budget. For more than two decades, we have built our reputation on exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, dependable service, clear communication, and meticulous attention to detail.

We believe exceptional remodeling begins with listening. Every home—and every homeowner—is unique. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we develop customized design and construction solutions that complement the home, enhance functionality, and reflect the individual style of the people who live there.

From kitchen and bathroom remodeling to home additions, finished basements, whole-home renovations, and custom remodeling projects, our goal is to create beautiful, functional spaces that enhance the way our clients live while adding lasting value to their homes.

Our commitment is simple: Exceptional design. Quality craftsmanship. Professional service.

Testimonials

"We would definitely recommend Home Building Solutions to all. Our experience with them and their contractors has been exceptional and we have dealt with a lot of contractors over the years. Tom Farr and his people keep their word and apprise you of when they will come out and what they are doing."

"We had our kitchen remodeled in February 2015. We are extremely pleased with the quality of the work done. We had a new floor installed, countertops, under cabinet lighting, backsplash, new sink and faucet. The floor extended into our laundry room, hallway and half bath. Tom Farr was excellent. He gave us a binder with all stages of the job spelled out. He spent time helping us select items, and made suggestions of things we had not thought of. His workers were very good, knowledgeable and courteous. The job was completed in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend this company."

"I've had these guys install a couple of skylights in my house. They were replacements for the originals, so the hole in the roof was already there. They did a really nice job. The crew they sent out was courteous and knowledgeable. No leaks after two years. I haven't used them on bigger jobs, but I have some confidence in them."

"Great company, we just finished up the most amazing bathroom. Owner very knowledgeable and detail oriented. The crews were fantastic. I would most definitely hire them again."

"I am so happy with the work Tom Farr did on my home. He is so professional and explained the entire process of building a beautiful finished basement for me. The contractors were great, being a single woman, I didn't worry for a second. But his impeccable design, my friends are so jealous! Look for him if you want an exquisite and refined look!"

"Tom you are the best! My basement had a leak in the ceiling and wall from my upper bathroom. I called Home Building Solutions and they were out within an hour! They fixed the water leak in my ceiling and wall and it was fixed in no time! After the water damage was fixed, I proceed to go with Home Building Solutions to remodel my whole basement! That included a kitchen / bar with a full bathroom. It was completed on time before the holidays. That was the best decision I could have made was working with Home Building Solutions! The staff and tradesmen are the best high-quality service! Thanks see you guys on the next project."

"I wanted to thank Home Building Solutions for the great work that you guys did! I got my kitchen remodeled and the finished job was fantastic! I made an appointment with Tom, the owner, and he came out to the house that day! Then later on that week me and my wife met at his office and were blown away with the design that he had developed for our new kitchen! His design center is a one-stop-shop, and we were able to pick out all of our product selections right in his office. Home Building Solutions does not mess around when it comes to home improvement! They are fast and their service is very high quality and professional! They are the best! For anyone who needs work done, I highly recommend Home Building Solutions!!"

"We've used Home Building Solutions for a number of projects over the years. 2 large ones. The first was a large insurance claim from water damage. There was substantial damage to our home. Tom was the only contractor who took the time to thoroughly go through the damage and work hand in hand with our insurance company. He made an overwhelming situation a lot easier to handle. We couldn't have been happier with the end result.... A few years later we did a major upgrade on our kitchen and bathrooms. Again, they showed more interest in our needs than anybody else. The end result was excellent. When our water heater blew, I called Tom in the A.M. by mid-day it was changed out. Our gutters, a broken kitchen faucet and other misc. jobs. Home Building Solutions has always been competitive with top notch results. We have never been disappointed. I recommend them highly."

"The only person I dealt with is Tom. I've [worked with] Home Building Solutions LLC a few times. I am very happy with their work."

I would recommend them. Tom and the rest of them were great. I almost considered them friends. It was nice working with a family. I trusted them to come into my house. They did business on an extremely personal level, and I feel that I made two friends. It was interesting because I looked at their reviews after picked them and they did work. They had some really good reviews and some negative reviews. I think the people who gave negative reviews were just bad customers, because I just don't know how you could not give them a good review.
